About Us

Strategic Aviation Pty Ltd was established by Executive Director, Shaun Aisen in 1991, after previously trading as Air Charter Logistics. In addition to facilitating ad-hoc charter services, the company specialised in the arrangement of project cargo flights.

In 2002, following a successful tender to the Australian Government for the primary Global Charter contract with the Australian Defence Force, Michael James joined the company as an Executive Director and equal shareholder. At this time, the business trading name was changed to Strategic Aviation Pty Ltd.

Since 2002, Strategic Aviation has developed many other facets of their business, which have resulted in the establishment of the Strategic Aviation Group. The group now incorporates Strategic Aviation, and Strategic Airlines, which was awarded its Australian Air Operators’ Certificate in September 2009. It has since executed lease agreements for an A330-200 and three A320-200 aircraft for ACMI lease and contract charter arrangements, including agreements with other major carriers. Considerable growth in this part of the group has seen bases established in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Darwin, Paris and London, in order to support the future development of the business model.

Currently, Strategic Aviation provides services to the Australian Defence Force through its Airbus A330-300 operations. Strategic Airlines was also recently awarded an ACMI service contract to operate air services between Brisbane and the Solomon Islands.

In addition to the group’s commercial investments, Strategic is committed to being a dedicated corporate citizen. From the infancy stages of the business, Executive Director Shaun Aisen has devoted much of his time to Angel Flight, a charity organization providing air transport to those individuals challenged by distance and finances whilst suffering from serious illness. Strategic is an ongoing supporter of Angel Flight and its endeavours within regional Australia and the associated communities.

Furthermore, in 2008 Strategic Aviation Group was a proud sponsor of the Gold Coast Nikon Indy 300. In 2009, Strategic has re-committed as a major sponsor for the Nitro Super GP, showing considerable support for the local region and its economy on an international stage.

Including an extensive technical and operational workforce, Strategic now employs in excess of 120 staff, and with the acquisition of three additional Airbus A320 aircraft, is forecast to more than double its employee numbers worldwide over the next 12 months.
